A field-service software checklist for growing crews

What to test when estimates, dispatch, field work, and invoicing need to work together.

Growing crews need one reliable version of the day. The office should be able to turn a quote into a scheduled job, assign the right people and equipment, notify the crew, and see progress without calling or texting for status updates.

Test a complete job cycle with the software. Create an estimate, win it, schedule it, assign a crew, record time and materials, attach photos, handle a change, generate an invoice, and collect payment. Repeat the test for recurring work and a weather delay.

Mobile experience is not a secondary feature. Open the app where your team works and check load speed, offline behaviour, permissions, notes, photos, checklists, maps, and the number of taps required to complete a job.

Model the cost at two team sizes. Include office users, mobile users, vehicles, route optimisation, payments, integrations, onboarding, and any required hardware. Choose a platform only after the daily workflow works for both the dispatcher and the person in the field.
