Pet client records: a grooming software setup checklist

The essential owner, pet, service, and care data to configure before launch.

Create separate owner and pet records so one customer can manage several pets without duplicated information. Start with contact details, pet name, breed, age or date of birth, service history, and the handling or care notes your team genuinely needs.

Set rules for sensitive notes. Information about health, behaviour, allergies, or emergency contacts should be visible to the right staff and updated after each relevant visit. Keep operational notes factual and avoid storing information the business does not need.

Test the record from booking to checkout. A new team member should be able to find the pet, see the correct service and notes, record the visit, and schedule the next appointment without creating a duplicate profile.
